Movies.
just got this song (i'm still here) after watching treasure planet. thought it'd just be another one of those not so impressive ones, but hey, i was wrong. with every bit of meaning of the word.
it was very well done. i've come to realize that many a times, what makes a good show isnt so much the story line, but its about the idiosyncracies such as chracter development and build up of atmosphere. this show really brought the characters to life. it wasnt some nice plot and deep concept that unfolded itself chronologically. neither did it jump straight into the mission of the movie. it simply just took its time to explain each character. the most overlooked and seemed somewhat redundant dialogue elucidated the personality, of course all rather ecentric, of the individual. speaking styles, mannerism ecetra. and of course, i wouldnt dare forget how music plays a part in it all.
for example, spiderman1. (most should have watched this) they took a good 45min to explain the setting of the show. how he's a nerd, how goofy he gets at times and how he discovered his talent. when he first took to the walls, each step he took was accompanied with a brassy stacato. the orchestra built up the momentum form there adding more force and instruments proportionately to his hieght off the ground. (of course we know that this was done on horizontally with the camera perpendicular to the ground.) this slow escelatorexploded into a full orchestra booming along as parker began playing hop-scotch from building to building.
drumline was another one of those movies i'd catergorize in the A-list. yet somehow, it never made it big in the papers.
anywz, what i'm trying to say is that Treasure Planet was a good movie. definately worth your time.
all the discussions abt which movie is good, why its good must've really got me thinking in this direction. i think spiderman and the last samurai both had very flawed concepts. for the last samurai, the notion of dying with glory and honor and suicide had no link. but who really cares? that show is one show that can really pull your heart strings with a war cry enchanting within you.
we also discussed this bit about the TV in our life. i think we both agreed that the TV has played a major role in who we are today. of course peer pressure and parenting up-bringing all play a part as well. but the TV kinda was the thing that formed our speech styles. i mean, the dramas, its so utopic and perfect, and since the better shows always allow you to relate to the character, you tend to want to immitate them. to be them. but of course, we learned to take them wth a pinch of realism. just because we see superman flying into the clouds doesnt mean we can follow suit. for us, we thought that what kind of TV we watched often reflects in our essays. story lines, tone, style, language. the whole lot of it.
yeah, there was some other thing i wanted to blot down here. slipped my mind.
anywz, its kinda queer isnt it, how i didnt even mention a bit about exams. oh well, read the previous entries if you really want to know. i dont think it'll be anything near discouraging, blame God for that.
sigh. its been a long time since i've felt the wind. i mean, its always there, but, its been awfully long since i could just sit on top of the school plaza and just enjoy the wind. you've got a full scope of the soccer and bball matches as well as trackers doing their routines and most importantly, no textbooks or any relative of that sort. well, ok, thats not really the wind i meant.
its almost beyond my memory, the last time i actually watched a sunset or sunrise just fading into sky, enjoying the ocean breeze, or gone to some highland and sat on the hills, under a tree, with a book in hand and guitar by the side, and wind at heart. time is going by so fast, you cant afford the time to just stop and look around you. but when you do, you start appreciating all the little stuff, the minor details.
oh no you dont. you've got the guilt of wasting your time not studying for your Olevels. to hell with it. muggin's a menace. it destroys creativity and, erm, i remember i thought of a second detriment, but, i guess the fever's killing me braincells.
ah. i shld rest.
sometimes, its difficult.
it wrestles against heart and soul.
but deep deep down inside,
you know it is but a foe.
than again, no.
you protest.
cuz you know oh you know,
you'd rather not face the test.
this is, like krystle said, perhaps God's biggest challenge.
and though not fully logical in a vaccuum time - now,
like QH said, is for your own good.
how simple yet apt.
all grown up too fast?
i couldn't last.
