Liverpool.

Sometimes you just cannot deny destiny. But to attribute all these to destiny is an insult to the guts, determination, passion and heart these men have. There is no doubt that they were not technically the best side in the competition. Yet they defeated some of the very best in the continent. Then, after 45 minutes in the finals, it all seemed to be over. Yet they fought back. They didn't just fight back, they won. This is like something out of a movie, and I am honoured to have witnessed it, even though I didn't see it live. I bloody teared at the replay of the match.

Two enduring images stood out. After Gerard scored his first goal, he turned to the Koppites and flailed his arms at them asking them to make as much noise as possible to keep the team in the game. They were still trailing 3-1, and usually a goal here would only be greeted with a muted response. But you could see that Gerard believed that there was hope. You could literally see his passion burning through the tv screen. I was wrong to have ever doubted his loyalty.

Second, was when Carragher limped back into a game after he received treatment. He was probably in pain, and yet he played through the barrier. It's as if he was willing to give everything for the club and the cup. He was my favourite Liverpool player this season, and it is through him more then anyone else that I can tangibly feel the Liverpool of Shanks and Paisley come alive.

I'm not one to resort to sporting cliches, but... The impossible truly is nothing.

i'm no soccer fan, but there are certain things that everyone can relate too. it'd be dream come true if i could relive and share this feeling once more.

ac rugby won. taking back the title they lost last year; the title they've held for so long and have come to acknowledge as rightfully thiers. i guess, at this moment, vj's soccer can identify with that. or rather, the looking forward to restoring the school's traditional pride. "we'll bring back that trophy next year". i sure hope they will.

after reading john's entry regarding the match, i just felt that it was just so very wrong. victorians against victorians. 'elites' aginst 'outcasts'. and those two national players, i'm sure they've must've felt like they "showed em". than again. i'd like to "show em" too.

on a entirely seperate note:

i think i can officially call Wonderful the class song?
or at least on the part of the guys.
or maybe - its just vs.
