to my surprise, the more popular response was the satisifed human.
and yet, dont you think that the only reason we chose to be human is because we think we can find satisfaction in human form. the eating rubbish, the scrutiny, the not knowing all the knowledge we know being human, the not being able to feel love, the not this that other vices ad nauseam, doesnt seem to be satisfaction's fit . and we think that by eating french fries, escaping the name-calling as a pig or the knowing-how-to-explain-and-prove-the-149-different-theories-and-equations-behind-gravity we can find satisfaction? maybe so. and than again, we cld be alot happier not knowing there's a better life.

Right. We all know that technology has greatly benefited our lives. With technology we are able to live life in comfort. We have air-con, we have mp3 players and we even are better able to device formulas that tell us things fall to the ground when we throw them up. yay technology. More importantly perhaps, it has helped us in our efficacy. "It is the great proliferator of knowledge" someone once said. (someone I cant remember, meaning it could be anyone ranging from the economist’s special report on technology over the past decade, to my kid brother while enthusiastically playing Halo 2 and simultaneously downloading music off kazaa) whatever the context, there is some degree of truth in this statement. Transportation, communicative devices all aim at spreading knowledge across boundaries we once deemed impossible.
And so they say - I really can’t imagine living 50 years back without all this technology. my mom says it too, albeit in a more, erm, passionate (euphemism) tone - back in my time, we had no such comfort. We walked to school, even if it was God knows how many kilometers, and we played marbles for leisure. You don’t know how fortunate you are. But to some extent, this may not all be true.
I like to think that 50 years from now, when they have teleportation systems and virtual reality games selling off the shelves, that I might just say the same things to my kids as my mom would say to me now. In other words, the only reason why we seem to be so blessed is because as compared to our parent's generation, conditions seem so much better.-when the owner of www.whateyescannotsee.blogspot.com was half awake. simplicity; ignorance; bliss.
and since everything that we do aims towards actually getting satisfaction, i'd rather chose the satisifed pig. and some might say pigs are actually cute.
i was just feeling out of place.
when i look at the stars (Switchfoot)
i see someone else
i feel myself
they're wierd
but they're happy.
and so i changed my mind.
i'm weird.
and not exactly happy.
perhaps, it is human to perennially strive for something higher, with an eternal hunger, never satisfied till the stage of perfection.
maybe its just me
or it cld just be singaporean society
or maybe it cld just be what is known as the valour of youth
and so maybe i'm just growing up (or growing old)
being tired of fighting
tired of the wars
of the valour
and i'm looking for rest
for peace.
bleagh.
the consequences of such a sheltered lifestyle.
i do sometimes wish that
-to quote someone a long time ago-
i had the strength to be weak.
