The future years.
congratulations gentlemen, cuz you made it throught prelim3. or that s the way wilbert wong put it. but did we? for certain subjects maybe.
lets see. i did 4out of 6 of the math papers given to us... and thats it. i didnt even touch on the sciences let alone the humanitites. actually i did. the night before. it worked for ss and hist. even chem to some extent. but no, it slaightered any hope i had for geog. the night before, i flipped open my faithful marianne chong to MNCs. read through the benefits of MNCs and found the list disgustingly imcomplete. dug up my econs book and decide to perfect the arguments, add more technical flavour and take a short venture into understanding foreign exchange. yup foreign exchange. currency. out of syllabus i know, but i had to fulfill my curosity. i got interupted at 10 by a phone call telling me that secondary industires wouldnt come out for the exam. i thought about it. and gosh, he was right. i abruptly ended my adventure with stocks and flipped to the other end of the textbook to population and settlements. yup. and all that while i was thinking, this is the final prelim. you mess this up, you're done for.
did we really make it through the 3 prelims? maybe the poison takes time to show effect. we'll see.
speaking about the inane stuff i did during the exam paper, i did nothing in preperation for chem today. actually, i did watch a bit of TV and talked to mark for a while about the future. and after that talk, i just spent the rest of the evening lying on the caoch thinkging about the kind of life i was going to expereince within the next 2 years.
k, i would go on forever rambling in some disorganised manner about the choice of JC admission. so in order to show attempt to structure my form of thoughts, i'll construct a criteria table.
JC Distance Achademics Debates Culture Friendships
AC 45min not so good good cool J1s
HC 30min arts no team its HC negligible
RJ 7min the best too good very white most
VJ 50min arts seniors comfortable cat high
that sums it up. looking at the chart, its going to be a choice of which component is most important to me. looking at distance, RJ has it. its the best JC in Singapore no doubt and most of my current friends might just end up there. but, but, is it even plausible to enter into that JC? debate life would be virtually non-existant and the pressure faced from peers will be tripled or quadrupled.
debates is not so much of a pull factor, since its kind of ambiguous between the 2. and i'm no science student, so that eliminates who's the best.
if i were to base my descision on culture, than Vj would trump unquestionably. a predominant cat high culure diluted by the myraid of other schools, likel eastern, would be very much home to me. AC culture kinda scares me, though most tell me i'll fit in.
the other flux of influence is than friendships. probably the cause of my mental unrest last night. important to me. i hated my first year in cat high, and possibly causing a domino effect on the subsequent years. i hated the year because i was alone. a solitary figure in school. i was supposed to go acsi and i'd have joel there. but somehow, with a twist of fate, i ended up here. after one and a half years of searching, i found 2 friends. not friendly classmates, but friends whom we could mutually exchange the emotional fulfillment of the human need.
i think God understood that. afterall, thats why there's so many of us around. He said 'and God did not desire that man should be alone'. poof, eve was formed.
i've got some not so nice history. and thus, once i found these 2 friends, i wouldnt let them go. well, there was no pressing need to than. now, faced with a crossroad of determining our next 2 years. we're all going seperate ways. 3 friends. 3 directions. 3 different destinies. in our own rights.
i always wanted to have thsoe in church to be the closest of friends. i mean, understanding the reason behind fellowship and all, its important to be close to those who share the same faith. and, its always more encouraging to do God's work in your school with a partner. paul always seemed to have one form time to time. Barnabas, Timothy etc.
yet, those in school, were still the closer of the 2 parties. maybe its the daily contact. the discussion of all the insignificant small talk. going home on the bus for the past 2-3 years. its not as if i'm anywhere near close to my other schoolmates. but proximity still counts in developing the depth of a relationship. thats why i want to go to a college with friends inhabitting it as well.and no, i dont want to spen another whole year looking and starting from scratch.
well, those in church. they aim high. Rafflesians. not unexpected of them. alternatively, they are others. but yeah. in sec3, J1 and 2 currently. anywz, i cant perpetually tag around my seniors in school.
i have to admit, in this area,
i.
am.
very.
much.
lost.
yes, lost.
what do the future years hold?
gee, i dont know.
