Ramblings about the Current Ramblings..
i thot i'd might as voice what i've been saying to most ppl here concerning the big news, the same thing that took up our entire GP debate where you had 8 VS boys against erm, a teacher who didnt really believe in co-education herself and was jsut trying to balance the sacale ina an attempt to make room for debate.
essentially, the Vicotrian Spirit wouldnt be what it is without the VS boys.
within a matter of seconds, news ahd spread, forums set up, letters sent out, plans to demonstrate evrything you could possibly do to protest. all within a matter of seconds. no hesitation, no thinkng twice. or to some extent, no thinking at all. afterall, they think with they're hearts which i personally believe is the crux of the Victorian Spirit.
soemtimes accused of being childish , i prefer to see it as the restraint to conformity and there's tremendous beauty in that. why spend all your childhood studying to mkae money, when you're going to use all your money to and restore your youth. in the words of switchfoot: this is your life, are you who you want to be. they sure are. and of course, i might add that they certiantly know how to be gentlemenly at the appropriate times. but vicotira gave them something to live for, something to die for. i guess that it something i've been looking for a long time, and almost made me chose ac during pae.
now, the whole thing abt going co-ed, that could just destroy everything they have put a 130 years (129 to be exact i think) to producing hte kind of boys they have. see, the word to decribe them are boisterous, which comes from the word 'boy'. by adding girls, no offence, but it would contradict the whole meaning to it. and we all know the effect of girls. the whole 'restraint to conformity' thing will never happen, because they'll have to act gentlemanly all the time without giving them time and space for them to discover their inner-self (inner-boy) - the voctorian spirit.
coming from a non-co-ed school, i have to say, it was some experience. not that i liked the school, the few of us pretty much established a seperate culture from the rest, its jsut that, now that i've gone thru all that i've gone thru, i dont think i can regret it completely.
only i wished that i could have expereinced what they did in vs
to be completely immeresed
drenched
and saturated
with such energy
such drive
such rallying power
such a vicotrian spirit
instead of just having
mere glimpses
spin off experiences
and spectating from afar.
